A Danville man has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for drug and firearm offenses. Rashad Polk, 35, received a sentence of 114 months after pleading guilty in January 2025 to illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and distribution of methamphetamine.
Polk was involved in over ten controlled sales of narcotics and a handgun to confidential informants working with federal law enforcement. According to court documents, in May 2024, Polk arranged to sell a handgun and an ounce of fentanyl to a confidential informant working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF). The transaction took place at a commercial establishment in Danville where Polk exchanged the suspected items for $1,150.
In July 2024, another informant contacted Polk for the purchase of fentanyl and methamphetamine. The exchange occurred at a shopping center in Danville, with Polk receiving $2,000 for the narcotics.
Law enforcement conducted about ten additional controlled purchases from Polk. These transactions involved at least 627 grams of methamphetamine, 310 grams of fentanyl, and 13 grams of cocaine. The total amount paid to Polk during these operations was approximately $18,250.
“This office will seek maximum accountability against those who violate federal law in Danville and throughout the Western District of Virginia,” said Acting United States Attorney Robert N. Tracci.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives along with the Danville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Keith Parrella and Matthew Miller prosecuted the case.
Robert N. Tracci, Acting United States Attorney for the Western District of Virginia, and Anthony A. Spotswood, Special Agent in Charge of the Washington Field Division of ATF announced the sentencing.
