Two brothers from Logan County, West Virginia, have been sentenced to federal prison for drug offenses. On November 6, 2025, Timothy Ray Gravley, 42, received a sentence of 15 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute more than 400 grams of fentanyl. His brother, Jessie Joe Gravley II, 43, was sentenced to 13 years in prison and five years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine as well as quantities of fentanyl and heroin.
Court documents state that law enforcement executed search warrants at both brothers’ residences on October 17, 2024. At Timothy Ray Gravley’s home, officers found over half a kilogram of fentanyl packaged in multiple bags, two firearms—a Ruger .380-caliber pistol and a Umarex/FN .22-caliber pistol—and $20,131 in cash. At Jessie Joe Gravley’s residence, police seized approximately 250 grams of methamphetamine “ice,” over 40 grams of heroin, more than 53 grams of cocaine, and $19,243.
During his guilty plea, Timothy Ray Gravley admitted possessing the fentanyl with intent to distribute it within the Southern District of West Virginia. He also acknowledged selling a total of 6.64 grams of fentanyl for $700 across two separate transactions on October 10 and October 15, both conducted with a confidential informant in Bruno.
Jessie Joe Gravley admitted as part of his plea that he possessed the methamphetamine with intent to distribute it locally. He also admitted selling controlled substances to a confidential informant twice: on October 9 he sold fentanyl (1.81 grams), methamphetamine “ice” (24.99 grams), and cocaine (1.05 grams) for $680; on October 14 he sold additional amounts—2 grams of fentanyl and nearly 30 grams of methamphetamine “ice”—for $620.
Both men have prior felony convictions related to drug crimes.
United States Attorney Moore Capito stated: "I commend the investigative work of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Route 119 Drug Task Force, which consists of members of the Mingo County Sheriff's Office, the Logan County Sheriff's Office, the Boone County Sheriff's Office, and the West Virginia State Police."
The sentences were imposed by United States District Judge Irene C. Berger. Assistant United States Attorney JC MacCallum prosecuted these cases.
