President nominates military officers for promotions and new assignments

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced on November 17, 2025, that the President has nominated several military officers for promotion and new assignments.

Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Benjamin G. Reynolds has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral. Reynolds is currently serving as deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for Budget and director of the Fiscal Management Division, N82, in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.

Army Lt. Gen. Christopher O. Mohan has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general with an assignment as commanding general of U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Mohan is presently serving as deputy commanding general and chief of staff at U.S. Army Materiel Command at Redstone Arsenal.

Army Maj. Gen. John L. Rafferty, Jr. has been nominated for appointment to lieutenant general with an assignment as commanding general of U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Rafferty is currently chief of staff at U.S. European Command in Germany.

Army Brig. Gen. Jason B. Nicholson has been nominated for appointment to major general. Nicholson currently serves as senior defense official and defense attaché at the U.S. Defense Attaché Office in Ukraine.

Air Force Col. Edward J. Fink Jr., who is now director A5 at Pennsylvania Air National Guard in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, has been nominated for appointment to brigadier general.

Army Col. John F. Popiak has also been nominated for appointment to brigadier general and is currently serving as deputy commander (operations) at U.S. Army Cyber Command in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
