Former Rochester teacher sentenced to over four years for child pornography possession

A former teacher from the Rochester area, Kevin Burns, 45, has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for possessing child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford said that law enforcement became involved after Burns uploaded a child pornography file to Bing Image. On November 5, 2024, New York State Police executed a search warrant at his Irondequoit home and seized electronic devices, including a computer.

Authorities found more than 450 images of child pornography on the computer. Some of these images showed violence against children and the sexual exploitation of infants or toddlers.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
