Randa Slim has been appointed to launch and lead the Stimson Center’s new Middle East Program, according to an announcement from the organization on December 1, 2025. Slim brings over twenty years of experience in conflict resolution, Track II dialogues, and strategic analysis focused on the Middle East and Central Asia.

Before joining the Stimson Center, Slim was project director of the Middle East Track II Dialogues initiative at the Wilson Center. She also served as Senior Fellow and Director of Conflict Resolution and Track II Dialogues Program there. In addition, she is a nonresident senior fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced and International Studies Foreign Policy Institute.

With her leadership, the Stimson Center has launched its Track II Dialogues Initiative. This program aims to expand structured dialogues in regions such as the Levant and Gulf. The initiative will publish commentaries and policy analyses about economic factors, regional security issues, and changing political situations that affect these areas. Its purpose is to inform strategies and promote dialogue based on deep regional knowledge.

“I am honored to lead Stimson’s Middle East Program at this critical moment for the region,” said Slim. “As global power dynamics shift and economic and security challenges evolve, it is essential that we bring together diverse perspectives to build pathways toward stability. At Stimson, we will not only examine the forces shaping the region but also help inform decision-making by policymakers and regional actors who are committed to peace, resilience, and long-term cooperation.”

President and CEO Brian Finlay welcomed Slim’s appointment: “We’re excited to welcome Randa to Stimson as our program lead for the Middle East program,” he said. “Randa brings a rare combination of deep expertise, trusted relationships, and a commitment to peacebuilding. Her leadership will strengthen Stimson’s ability to foster meaningful dialogues and deliver impactful analysis on the issues shaping the Middle East today.”

The Stimson Center describes itself as promoting international security through research, engagement, analysis, and policy innovation since its founding during the late Cold War era.
