This week, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee has scheduled three hearings. The first is a full committee hearing titled "Arms Race 2.0," which will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 9:30am in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, room SD-419. Witnesses for this session include Marshall Billingslea, former Presidential Envoy for arms control, and Rose Gottemoeller, former undersecretary of State for arms control and international security.
Later that day at 2:30pm, the subcommittee on Africa and Global Health Policy will hold a hearing focused on maritime security in Africa. The discussion will assess threats to U.S. commercial diplomacy and national security interests.
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 10:30am in the same location, the committee will conduct a nominations hearing. Frank Weiland is scheduled to be considered for the position of assistant secretary of State for international narcotics and law enforcement affairs. Additional nominees are expected to be announced.
