Bakkavor USA recalls red lentil dal soup over undeclared milk allergen

Bakkavor USA, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced a recall of its 16-ounce Meal Simple brand Red Lentil Dal Soup due to the presence of undeclared milk. The product, which was available at H-E-B retail stores in Texas from November 3 to December 8, 2025, poses a risk for people with milk allergies or sensitivities.

The affected soup is packaged in clear plastic cups marked with a "BEST BY 1/11/2026" date on the bottom. No illnesses have been reported related to this issue.

The recall began after a consumer reported that the container labeled as Meal Simple Red Lentil Dal Soup actually contained poultry and rice soup. Bakkavor USA’s internal investigation found that the Meal Simple Turkey & Wild Rice Soup contains milk, while the Red Lentil Dal Soup does not list milk as an ingredient or declare it on its label. The company stated that “the root cause investigation is ongoing.”

Consumers who bought the recalled soup are encouraged to return it to their place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can be directed to H-E-B Customer Service at 1-855-432-4438 during business hours Monday through Friday.
