Beaumont man receives nearly ten-year sentence for armed robbery

A Beaumont man has been sentenced to nearly 10 years in federal prison for his role in an armed robbery, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs for the Eastern District of Texas.

Naiyme Kidd, 28, pleaded guilty to charges of Hobbs Act robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. On December 11, 2025, U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone sentenced him to 117 months in federal prison.

Court documents indicate that on February 19, 2025, law enforcement responded to a report of an armed robbery at Joy’s Fun Place on South 11th Street in Beaumont. The establishment operates as both a game room and convenience store where customers can play gaming machines and redeem credits within the store. According to the store clerk, the assailant entered with a firearm, pressed it into the clerk’s chest, demanded money, took approximately $400 in cash, and fled.

Investigators used surveillance footage and witness statements to identify Kidd as the suspect. He later pleaded guilty to the charges.

U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs stated: “This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.”

The investigation was conducted by the Beaumont Police Department along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matt Quinn prosecuted the case.
