Salisbury man charged with threatening former president Trump

United States Attorney Dan Bishop announced that Christian Wolfe Daniels of Salisbury was arrested by the FBI on charges related to threats made against former President Donald Trump and others. The criminal complaint alleges that Daniels made two threats against the President on November 13 and 14, 2025, violating federal law, and transmitted another threat in interstate commerce on November 17, 2025. If convicted on all counts, Daniels could face up to 15 years in prison and up to three years of supervised release.

“We’re not going to abide threats against President Trump in the Middle District of North Carolina,” said Bishop. “As soon as I received the details, I insisted we act immediately. I’m grateful to the FBI and AUSA Iverson and for their quick response.”

James C. Barnacle Jr., Special Agent in Charge for the FBI in North Carolina, commented: “It has become far too common for people to make violent threats on social media. Listen closely, you cannot hide behind a keyboard and threaten people’s lives. The FBI will find you. Threats to public officials, their loved ones, a grieving widow, or the President of the United States, are illegal. Political violence in all forms must stop.”

Daniels appeared initially before a judge in Winston-Salem today and remains detained pending a detention hearing scheduled for December 18, 2025, in Greensboro.

The authorities emphasized that a criminal complaint is an allegation only; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and United States Secret Service are investigating this case. Assistant United States Attorney Eric L. Iverson is prosecuting.
