Mexican national sentenced for illegal reentry and prior removals

Felipe Bautista-Ramirez, a 29-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to the felony charge of reentry of a removed alien. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon, according to an announcement from Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.

Bautista-Ramirez will also serve one year of supervised release following his prison term. This supervised release will be enforced if he remains in or returns to the United States within that period after expected removal proceedings.

Court documents show that Bautista-Ramirez has a prior arrest history that includes theft charges. He had previously been removed from the United States twice, once in May 2024 and again in September 2024.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations with support from the Hobart Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Nadia Wardrip prosecuted the case.
