Rockford man receives 14-year sentence for distributing nearly 900 grams of methamphetamine

A Rockford resident has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Jesse Herbig, 44, pleaded guilty earlier this year to one count of possession with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to court records, Herbig admitted that in 2022 he coordinated with a supplier and arranged for a U.S. Postal Service Priority Express parcel containing methamphetamine to be sent from Phoenix, Arizona, to an address in Rockford. The package held about 891.6 grams of methamphetamine that was approximately 99% pure.

U.S. District Judge Iain D. Johnston imposed the 168-month sentence during a hearing in federal court in Rockford.

The sentencing was announced by Andrew S. Boutros, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Ruth Mendonça, Inspector-in-Charge of the Chicago Division of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. The Rockford Police Department contributed to the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa R. Munch represented the government.
