Chief Michael W. Banks, Chief Patrol Agent for the U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector, used his official social media account to share recent law enforcement activities and cross-border cooperation efforts.
On December 10, 2025, Banks reported the apprehension of a previously deported individual attempting to re-enter the United States. In his post, he stated: "Sunland Park, NM – A dangerous aggravated felon, deported earlier this year, tried to sneak back into the U.S. The Mexican national's criminal history speaks for itself:
Assault, 2nd Degree (domestic violence)
Wanton Endangerment
Multiple immigration violations

The following day, on December 11, Banks highlighted collaborative border security efforts with Canadian authorities. He wrote: "Border security isn’t a solitary endeavor—it’s a unified front.
This afternoon, I met with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to refine strategies for information sharing, coordinated enforcement, and decisive action to dismantle criminal operations affecting our shared border." (December 11, 2025).
Later that same day, Banks announced another arrest as part of ongoing operations in Louisiana: "ANOTHER RAPIST OFF THE STREETS
On 12/4, U.S. Border Patrol agents working under Operation Catahoula Crunch in New Orleans found a Cuban national, convicted of forcible rape and aggravated burglary, living in LaPlace, LA. His presence is a clear threat to our community." (December 11, 2025).
Banks’ updates reflect current priorities within the U.S. Border Patrol regarding removal of individuals with violent criminal histories and coordination with international partners such as the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
As Chief Patrol Agent for the El Paso Sector of U.S. Border Patrol since February 2023 and a career agent since joining in 1997 after serving in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps., Banks has frequently emphasized both public safety concerns related to border enforcement and interagency collaboration.
