U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced that it collected more than $200 billion in tariffs between January 20 and December 15, 2025. The agency attributes this record-breaking figure to over 40 executive orders issued by President Donald Trump’s administration.

“CBP’s enforcement delivers results,” said CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott. “By combining intelligence-led targeting, rigorous oversight, and swift action, we are safeguarding the U.S. economy, protecting American industries, and holding accountable those who seek to break our trade laws.”

The agency reported that its enforcement actions included identifying violations such as undervaluation, misclassification, transshipment, antidumping and countervailing duty violations, the use of illegitimate shell companies, and attempts at “double dipping” through multiple tariff exemptions.

CBP stated that these efforts were supported by advanced data analytics tools designed to detect complex tariff evasion schemes. The Automated Commercial Environment was cited as a key system for processing trade data efficiently and enforcing trade laws. The agency also provides updates and guidance through its Cargo Systems Messaging Service.

For more information on CBP’s efforts to address unfair trade practices, the agency directs the public to its Trade Statistics webpage.

According to CBP, it is the largest law enforcement organization in the United States with over 67,000 personnel responsible for securing land borders, airspace, and maritime approaches while promoting lawful travel and trade.
