Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced that the president has nominated several Navy officers for key positions and promotions.
Navy Vice Adm. Robert M. Gaucher has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of vice admiral, with a new assignment as submarine direct reporting portfolio manager at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Gaucher is currently commander of Naval Submarine Forces, Commander of Submarine Force for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet, and Commander of Allied Submarine Command in Norfolk, Virginia.
Navy Vice Adm. Jeffrey T. Jablon has also been nominated for reappointment to the grade of vice admiral and will be assigned as deputy commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Jablon is currently serving as deputy chief of Naval Operations for Installations and Logistics (N4) in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon.
Navy Rear Adm. Douglas C. Verissimo is nominated for appointment to vice admiral and will serve as commander of Naval Air Forces and Commander of Naval Air Force for the U.S. Pacific Fleet in San Diego, California. Verissimo most recently served as commander of Naval Air Forces for the U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk.
Navy Rear Adm. Darin K. Via is nominated for promotion to vice admiral with an assignment as director for Defense Health Agency in Falls Church, Virginia. Via is currently serving as surgeon general of the Navy (N093) and Chief of Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, also in Falls Church.
Additionally, Navy Capt. Milton W. Troy III has been nominated for appointment to rear admiral (lower half). Troy currently serves as director for Fleet Supply and Ordnance at U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk.
