The administration's actions follow reports and video evidence from journalist Nick Shirley and Alpha News, which highlighted fraudulent activities involving taxpayer funds. The press release claims these scams have been particularly damaging and were made possible due to lapses in oversight.
"Fueled by shocking video from Nick Shirley and tenacious reporting by Alpha News exposing the Somali-dominated scams that have bled taxpayers dry, this Administration is spearheading a no-holds-barred effort to hunt down and prosecute the criminals who have exploited Democrats’ non-existent oversight to bilk hardworking taxpayers out of billions of dollars," the statement said.
The White House detailed ongoing investigations, asset freezes, and prosecutions coordinated across several federal agencies. It emphasized that addressing such complex schemes requires time for thorough investigation in order to secure convictions and recover lost funds.
