Natrona Heights man indicted for illegal firearm possession

A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted a Natrona Heights resident on charges of violating federal firearms laws, according to an announcement from First Assistant United States Attorney Troy Rivetti.

The indictment names Myles Daryl Johnson, 44, as the sole defendant. It alleges that on or about December 11, 2025, Johnson, who is a convicted felon, possessed firearms and ammunition. Federal law prohibits individuals with felony convictions from possessing firearms or ammunition.

If convicted, Johnson faces a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence would depend on the seriousness of the offense and Johnson’s prior criminal history under federal sentencing guidelines.

Assistant United States Attorney Kelly M. Locher is prosecuting the case for the government. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Tarentum Borough Police Department.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that coordinates efforts among various levels of law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. In May 2021, the Department implemented a strategy aimed at strengthening PSN by building community trust, supporting violence prevention organizations, focusing enforcement priorities, and measuring results.

"An indictment is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty."
