Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent met with France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure on January 12 in Washington. The officials discussed coordination between the G7 and G20 groups, shared economic policy goals, and the upcoming critical minerals finance ministerial.
During the meeting, Secretary Bessent emphasized the importance of aligning priorities during both countries’ presidencies of the G7 and G20 in 2026. He noted that addressing global imbalances within these forums remains a key objective. Secretary Bessent also outlined next steps for advancing work related to the critical minerals finance ministerial.
