Spring & Mulberry expands chocolate bar recall due to possible salmonella risk

ORGANIZATIONS IN THIS STORY

Spring & Mulberry has expanded its voluntary recall of certain chocolate bars due to possible Salmonella contamination. The company previously recalled only the Mint Leaf flavor but is now including additional flavors after further testing.

The affected products have been available online and at select retailers nationwide since September 15, 2025. Consumers can identify the recalled products by checking the brand name, flavor, lot codes, and box color on the packaging. The specific flavors and their corresponding lot numbers are: Earl Grey (#025258), Lavender Rose (#025259, #025260), Mango Chili (#025283), Mint Leaf (#025255), Mixed Berry (#025275, #025281, #025337), Mulberry Fennel (#025345), Pacan Date (#025261, #025265, #025267, #025268, #025339, #025343), and Pure Dark Minis (#025273).

Salmonella infection can lead to serious illness in children, elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may experience symptoms such as fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases it can cause more severe illnesses if the bacteria enter the bloodstream.

"There have been no confirmed illnesses or adverse health effects reported to date," according to Spring & Mulberry. The company noted that "the potential for contamination was first noted after routine third-party testing conducted by the company’s contract manufacturer revealed finished product tested positive for Salmonella."

Spring & Mulberry stated: "Because Salmonella can be difficult to detect and may appear intermittently, we are now expanding the recall beyond Mint Leaf in consultation with the FDA to include additional production lots made during the same time period on the same equipment. All other lot codes are unaffected by this recall."

Customers who purchased any of these products should not consume them and are advised to dispose of them immediately. Refunds or replacements can be requested by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com with a photo of the lot code.

For more information or assistance regarding this recall or product identification procedures consumers may contact Spring & Mulberry customer service at recalls@springandmulberry.com.
