St. Louis County man receives over 14 years for drug trafficking and firearms offenses

A St. Louis County man has been sentenced to more than 14 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to multiple drug and firearm offenses.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp sentenced Quentin Simms, 54, to 170 months in prison. Simms pleaded guilty in September to five charges: possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, cocaine base, and heroin; possession of a firearm in connection with drug trafficking crimes; and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

According to court documents, detectives from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department executed a court-approved search on May 31, 2024, at a residence on Labadie Avenue. Officers observed Simms attempting to hide inside a red Dodge Ram truck near the property. Inside the vehicle, police found a large baggie containing fentanyl capsules, $3,668 in cash, and a loaded Ruger semi-automatic pistol. A further search uncovered heroin, cocaine, cocaine base, and a stolen Smith & Wesson pistol.

After his indictment on drug and gun charges, Deputy U.S. Marshals arrested Simms on October 9, 2024. At that time they found approximately $1,000 in cash and nearly 28 grams of cocaine base.

The investigation was conducted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney J. Christian Goeke prosecuted the case.
