Former airport worker sentenced for aiding breach of Philadelphia International Airport security

A former employee at Philadelphia International Airport has been sentenced to nine days in prison for violating security protocols. Tiriq Henson, 34, of Philadelphia, received the sentence from United States District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer. In addition to the prison term, Henson will serve two years of supervised release.

According to court documents, on March 9, 2024, Henson was working as a wheelchair assistant at the airport when he helped his associate, David Easley, bypass security procedures. Henson allowed Easley to use his security badge and credentials to access a secure area meant only for screened passengers.

United States Attorney David Metcalf announced the sentencing and stated that Henson had previously pleaded guilty in September of last year to one count of entering an airport area in violation of security requirements.

Easley also pleaded guilty to the same offense in July of last year and received a prison sentence.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation into the case, with assistance from the Transportation Security Administration and the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Priya De Souza prosecuted the case.

"This case was investigated by the FBI, with significant assistance from the Transportation Security Administration and the Philadelphia Police Department, and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Priya De Souza," said United States Attorney David Metcalf.
