Mount Carmel man indicted for unlawful firearm possession

Zachary Comerford, a 33-year-old resident of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury for the unlawful possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges that on November 20, 2025, in Northumberland County, Comerford was found with an H&R .32 caliber revolver after previously being convicted of a felony.

United States Attorney Brian D. Miller announced the charges. The investigation involved the United States Marshals Service, Coal Township Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant United States Attorney Alisan V. Martin is handling the prosecution.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, a national initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at countering illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators. More information about this initiative can be found at https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline.

If convicted, Comerford faces up to 15 years in prison as well as supervised release and a possible fine. Sentencing would be determined by a judge based on federal statutes and guidelines.
