Diane J. Sabatino highlights recent seizures and thanks CBP personnel on International Customs Day

Executive Assistant Commissioner Diane J. Sabatino, a senior official with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), recently used her social media platform to highlight several enforcement actions and recognize the efforts of customs personnel.

In a post dated January 25, 2026, Sabatino reported a seizure by agriculture specialists in Orlando: "Recently, @DFOFlorida Orlando ag specialists seized cargo shipped from Hong Kong mismanifested as 'plastic pet dog frisbee' with over 37lbs of pork products with fish/seafood labels. Pork products have the potential to introduce foreign animal diseases to the US. #OFOProud".

On January 26, 2026, she detailed another significant enforcement action at the southern border: "HALF A MILLION IN COCAINE SEIZED

Recently, @DFOElPaso officers seized $552K in cocaine hidden inside a vehicle driven by a US citizen at the Bridge of the Americas. The 69 lbs of narcotics were discovered by a K9 team & non-intrusive inspection. Prosecution accepted. #OFOProud".

Later that same day, Sabatino acknowledged customs personnel for their ongoing service: "On #InternationalCustomsDay, we thank our dedicated @CBP personnel for protecting the American economy and strengthen national security every day. Your vigilance keeps America safe and competitive. #OFOProud".

Sabatino serves as Executive Assistant Commissioner within CBP's Office of Field Operations (OFO), which is responsible for securing U.S. borders at ports of entry and enforcing laws related to trade and travel. Agriculture specialists play an important role in preventing foreign animal diseases from entering the country through misdeclared or smuggled food products—a risk highlighted in her January 25 post regarding mislabeled pork imports.

Drug interdiction remains a core mission for CBP officers stationed along border crossings such as the Bridge of the Americas in El Paso, where seizures like those described on January 26 reflect ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking.

The annual International Customs Day recognizes customs officials worldwide for their contributions to economic protection and national security—an acknowledgment reflected in Sabatino’s message thanking CBP staff.
