Henryetta man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution charge

Michael Wayne Wasson, also known as Pops, has pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine in Henryetta, Oklahoma. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Wasson, age 64, entered a guilty plea to one count of felony distribution of methamphetamine. This offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

According to court documents, Wasson distributed a substance containing methamphetamine on October 19, 2023. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs.

The plea was accepted by U.S. Magistrate Judge D. Edward Snow in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma. Judge Snow ordered a presentence investigation report to be completed.

A U.S. District Court Judge will determine Wasson's sentence after reviewing federal sentencing guidelines and other legal factors. Wasson is currently held by the United States Marshals Service until sentencing.
