The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced that National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) 2026 will take place from March 1 to March 7. The agency is encouraging libraries to participate by sharing information with patrons about consumer rights, recognizing scams, and reporting fraud.
As part of this initiative, the FTC is partnering with the Association of Bookmobile and Outreach Services (ABOS) to host a free webinar aimed at helping libraries integrate NCPW into their programming and outreach efforts. The event is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET on an online platform, with details available through the FTC.
The webinar offers practical guidance for library staff interested in educating their communities during NCPW. According to the FTC, "NCPW is a great time to share information with your patrons about their consumer rights, spotting and avoiding scams, and reporting frauds." The session will cover ways libraries can provide resources and events focused on these topics.
Those interested in attending can join via Zoom using meeting ID 160 858 7778 and passcode 737804. Phone access is also available for participants in various locations.
The collaboration between the FTC and ABOS highlights ongoing efforts to equip community organizations with tools to inform the public about consumer protection issues.
