Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma
Jose Eduardo Suchite-Ramirez, 34, of Oklahoma City, has been sentenced to 41 months in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms after a previous felony conviction. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.
According to court records, the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a workplace harassment call in December 2024 and found that Suchite-Ramirez, who had prior felony convictions, possessed several firearms. Officers searched his workplace and company vehicle, seizing multiple firearms and ammunition.
A federal grand jury indicted Suchite-Ramirez on February 5, 2025, charging him with two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He pleaded guilty on June 9, 2025. His prior convictions in Oklahoma County District Court include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, and aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol.
At sentencing on January 21, 2026, U.S. District Judge Patrick R. Wyrick ordered Suchite-Ramirez to serve three years and five months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. Judge Wyrick stated that deterrence was necessary because Suchite-Ramirez’s criminal history did not appear to have provided sufficient deterrence.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Oklahoma City Police Department investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney David Nichols, Jr., prosecuted it.
"This case is part of Operation Take Back America (OTBA), a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime," according to the press release. "This case is also part of 'Operation 922,' the Western District of Oklahoma’s implementation of OTBA, which prioritizes prosecution of federal crimes connected to domestic violence."
