The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested several individuals described as criminal illegal aliens in various locations across the United States. The arrests, which took place yesterday, involved people convicted of serious offenses such as kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault of a child, drug trafficking, and fraud.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin commented on the arrests: “While sanctuary politicians and Hollywood were vilifying our law enforcement, our officers were arresting kidnappers, pedophiles, and drug traffickers. These thugs have no place in our communities. 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens charged or convicted of a crime in the U.S. This statistic doesn’t even include foreign fugitives, terrorists, and gang members who lack a rap sheet in the U.S. With every arrest, we are making America safe again.”
Among those arrested was Armando Miguel Hernandez-Valdez from Mexico, who was convicted of kidnapping, possession of a controlled substance, and escape in St. George, Utah. Carlos Martinez from El Salvador was apprehended after being convicted for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old in Dallas County, Texas.
Freddy Railandy Medina-Cruz from the Dominican Republic was also arrested; he had been convicted for drug trafficking in Boston, Massachusetts; fraud in the U.S. District Court in Michigan; and reentry after removal in the U.S. District Court in Florida.
Jianqiao Lu from China was taken into custody following his conviction for criminal possession of an assault weapon in New Rochelle, New York.
DHS has provided more information about these cases and others at WOW.DHS.gov.
