A man from the Dominican Republic, Reinaldo Sanchez Gonzalez, also known as Delvis Mendoza, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo. Sanchez Gonzalez, age 51, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael J. Adler, on April 28, 2023, Sanchez Gonzalez traveled to Buffalo, New York with co-defendant Robert Hernandez with the intention of distributing approximately one kilogram of fentanyl. Law enforcement stopped their vehicle in Erie County and recovered a brick of fentanyl from the trunk.
Sanchez Gonzalez is currently awaiting sentencing for previous felony convictions in New York State Court related to sexual abuse involving children under the age of 11. Federal charges are still pending against Hernandez.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Sentencing for Sanchez Gonzalez is scheduled for June 11, 2026 before Judge Sinatra.
