A Mexican national, Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bangor for reentering the United States after a previous removal. Judge John A. Woodcock, Jr. ordered Gonzalez-Peleaz, 43, to time served following his incarceration since November 11, 2025.

Court records show that in November 2025, a Border Patrol agent found Gonzalez-Peleaz and his brother, Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz, leaving a jobsite in Calais. The agent conducted an immigration inspection and determined both men were Mexican citizens without legal documentation to be in the country. Immigration records indicated that Alfredo Gonzalez-Peleaz had been previously removed from the United States in January 2012 at Calexico, California.

The case was investigated by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Isidro Gonzalez-Peleaz also received a sentence of time served earlier the same day from Judge Woodcock.

According to the press release: "Operation Take Back America: This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime."
