Two women from Conroe, Texas, have been indicted on charges of kidnapping, abuse, and forced labor involving a child. The indictment was announced on February 9. Tania Evette Garcia, 37, and Brenda Mariana Garcia, 39, are facing possible life sentences and fines that could reach $250,000.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), in collaboration with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
ICE Deputy Director Charles Wall commented on the case: “Harming children is unconscionable. HSI is a global leader in protecting children and will remain vigilant to ensure those who victimize our most vulnerable face justice.”
