Corey Jones receives extra prison term for threats against Oklahoma City federal officer

Robert J. "Bob" Troester U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma

Corey Jones, a 48-year-old inmate from New York, has received an additional 46-month federal prison sentence for threatening a federal law enforcement officer at the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Robert J. Troester.

According to public records, on March 25, 2025, Jones threatened to stab and murder a prison guard while incarcerated at the Federal Transfer Center. At that time, Jones was already serving sentences for assaulting federal officers in both the Eastern District of New York and the Northern District of Illinois.

A federal grand jury indicted Jones on April 16, 2025, for threatening a federal law enforcement officer. He pleaded guilty on September 4, 2025, admitting that he threatened to assault and murder the officer by stabbing him to death.

At his sentencing hearing on February 18, 2026, U.S. District Judge Jodi W. Dishman ordered that Jones serve the new sentence consecutively to his current terms. Judge Dishman stated: “Jones’s pattern of criminal behavior while incarcerated, including the two prior assaults against federal officers and multiple custodial infractions,” influenced her decision. She also emphasized “the need to protect the public from further crimes by Jones.”

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Special Investigative Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale.
