The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has announced a proposed civil penalty of $2,839,900 against PEMCO World Air Services, based in Tampa, Florida. The agency alleges that the aircraft repair station used expired maintenance products on five Frontier Airlines planes between September 2022 and November 2023.

According to the FAA, PEMCO knowingly used items such as adhesives, epoxies, resins, paints, and fiberglass cloth past their expiration dates during scheduled maintenance. The agency further claims that by using these expired materials, PEMCO did not follow both the specific maintenance manual for the aircraft and its own internal quality control procedures.

PEMCO has been given 30 days from receipt of the FAA’s enforcement letter to respond to the allegations.
