A man from Gearhart, Oregon, has pleaded guilty to charges of sexually exploiting a child and possessing child pornography. Joseph Tyler Biamont, 35, admitted to secretly recording a minor while nude and possessing child sexual abuse material.

According to court documents, police in Gearhart found that Biamont had a thumb drive containing videos he secretly recorded of the minor victim while nude. The recordings were made using devices such as a dummy smoke detector above the victim’s bed, behind a teddy bear, and on Biamont’s cell phone. The footage showed the minor going to the bathroom, showering, and changing clothes. Biamont appeared in some of these videos. Investigators also discovered files depicting other minor victims as well as videos showing an adult victim nude in the bathroom.

On May 6, 2025, a federal grand jury in Portland indicted Biamont on six counts related to sexual exploitation of children and possession of child pornography.

For count one of the indictment, Biamont could receive up to 30 years in prison with a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years. He may also face fines up to $250,000 and supervised release for five years to life. For count six, he faces up to 20 years in prison with similar financial penalties and supervised release terms. Sentencing is scheduled for August 19, 2026.

Biamont agreed as part of his plea deal to pay restitution to his victims.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation led the investigation with help from the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office and Gearhart Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charlotte Kelley is prosecuting the case.

"This case was brought in collaboration with Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the DOJ’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
