A man from Dulce has been indicted on federal charges after allegedly assaulting another individual with a table and a knife, causing serious bodily injury. The incident occurred on October 27, 2025, and involved Russell Alan Veneno, 50, who is an enrolled member of the Jicarilla Apache Nation.
Veneno faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. If found guilty, he could receive a prison sentence of up to ten years.
First Assisting U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison and Justin A. Garris, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced the indictment.
The investigation was conducted by the Farmington Resident Agency of the FBI’s Albuquerque Field Office with support from the Jicarilla Apache Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eliot Neal is prosecuting the case.
"An indictment or criminal complaint is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," officials stated.
