Philadelphia man pleads guilty to carjacking with firearm in Southwest Philadelphia

Nasir Warlow, a 21-year-old resident of Philadelphia, has pleaded guilty to charges of carjacking and using a firearm during a crime of violence. The plea was entered before United States District Court Judge Joel H. Slomsky.

The charges stem from an incident on September 3, 2024, when Warlow and two accomplices, all wearing masks and dressed in black, approached a man who had parked his silver 2017 Nissan Sentra on the 6700 block of Woodland Avenue. According to authorities, Warlow pointed a firearm at the victim and ordered him out of the vehicle while his accomplices approached from the passenger side. The three then fled in the stolen car northbound on 68th Street.

Police later located the Nissan near Cobbs Creek Parkway and Baltimore Avenue. A pursuit ensued that ended with Warlow crashing into the front porch of a residence on Horton Street, resulting in damage to both the home and the vehicle.

Warlow is scheduled for sentencing on June 8, 2026, before Judge Slomsky.

United States Attorney David Metcalf stated: "This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence, and to make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. On May 26, 2021, the department launched a violent crime reduction strategy strengthening PSN based on these core principles: fostering trust and legitimacy in our communities, supporting community-based organizations that help prevent violence from occurring in the first place, setting focused and strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring the results."

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives collaborated with the Philadelphia Police Department in investigating this case. Special Assistant United States Attorney Sandra Urban is prosecuting.
