U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Hidalgo Port of Entry, along with Special Response Team operators, apprehended five individuals found to be unlawfully present in the United States over a 24-hour period. The arrests took place on February 19 during four separate enforcement actions, which included open-air arrests outside residences in the Rio Grande Valley area and vehicle stops.
According to Port Director Carlos Rodriguez of the Hidalgo Port of Entry, "Our frontline CBP officers and SRT operators formed a tactical team and successfully apprehended five illegal aliens discovered to be residing in the U.S. in four separate enforcement actions. These enforcement actions away from the port highlight the versatility of our CBP officers (enforcement), our SRT operators and their tactical skill to apprehend illegal aliens unlawfully present in the U.S. and process them for various immigration law violations."
The individuals taken into custody include three Mexican citizens and two Honduran citizens. One of the Honduran nationals had previously been removed from the United States three times. All were apprehended without incident and processed for alleged violations of U.S. immigration law.
