Gail Nossavage, a 62-year-old resident of Harding, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for wire fraud. The sentencing took place on December 3, 2025, before United States District Judge Karoline Mehalchick.
According to United States Attorney Brian D. Miller, Nossavage was employed as an administrative assistant at a church in the Middle District of Pennsylvania between April 2020 and December 2021. Her responsibilities included handling the church's financial matters, such as managing monetary collections and making deposits.
An investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation found that Nossavage made at least 115 deposits into her personal bank account using funds that were not related to legitimate transactions. She also used credit cards in the church's name without authorization and paid herself additional sums under categories labeled “bonuses,” “miscellaneous,” “vacation,” and “travel.” The investigation revealed that much of the money obtained through these actions was spent on online gambling platforms.
Judge Mehalchick ordered Nossavage to pay $184,724.68 in restitution and imposed a three-year term of supervised release after her prison sentence.
The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Luisa Honora Berti.
