The Subcommittee on Modernization and Innovation has secured funding for FlagTrack 2.0, a project aimed at improving the system for ordering and tracking flags requested by constituents. The funding comes from the Modernization Initiatives Account (MIA), which was established to support efforts to modernize operations within the U.S. House of Representatives.

FlagTrack 2.0 will introduce a new portal that allows constituents to track their flag requests throughout the process, including order date, fly date, shipping, and delivery dates. The upgrade also digitizes check and refund forms for faster processing and adds a direct shipping option alongside the traditional method of sending flags through Member offices.

Chairwoman Stephanie Bice stated, "FlagTrack 2.0 will make this process more seamless and transparent for all constituents. We are grateful to the Appropriations Committee for approving funding for this project."

Ranking Member Norma Torres added, “I’m thrilled that we will be able to provide constituents and House staff with a simplified process to track flag requests, a process often connected to celebrations and meaningful ceremonies. I look forward to making the transition in my office and bringing another House process into the 21st century.”

The MIA was created in fiscal year 2021 as part of an appropriations act designed to fund projects that update House procedures. The Subcommittee requested funding for FlagTrack 2.0 in November 2025.

The House Administration Committee oversees administrative matters within the House of Representatives, including federal elections, Capitol security, and other operational responsibilities. It is also involved in joint committees on topics such as the Library and Printing. In response to major events like September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021, the committee has enhanced security measures at the Capitol (source). The committee played a significant role in passing legislation such as the Help America Vote Act in 2002 to improve voting systems nationwide (source).
