A federal grand jury in Topeka has indicted Danny Ray Stano Jr., 44, of Topeka, on charges related to drug trafficking and illegal possession of firearms.

Court documents state that Stano faces one count of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Authorities allege that Stano had five firearms in his possession, which he is not legally allowed to have. He is also accused of conspiring to possess methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is handling the investigation. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jared Maag.

"An indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," according to the release.
