A man from Jefferson, Texas, has been arrested on charges related to the assault of a mail carrier in the Eastern District of Texas, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Alton Ray Jackson, 43, was taken into custody following a federal complaint that accuses him of assaulting a federal employee. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Roy S. Payne on March 6, 2026, for his initial court appearance.
If found guilty, Jackson could face up to eight years in federal prison.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, which uses resources from the Department of Justice to address illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
The investigation is being led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Jefferson Police Department. The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Dustin Farahnak and Whitney Tharpe.
"A federal complaint is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," according to the release.
