A man from Penn Run, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines to Eldon Sajko, age 55. After serving his prison term, Sajko will be subject to five years of supervised release.
Court records show that on March 21, 2021, Sajko was found with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine as well as quantities of cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin in the Western District of Pennsylvania. On the same day, he also unlawfully possessed a firearm and ammunition despite having a prior felony conviction. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition. Additionally, on July 27, 2022, Sajko was again found with the intent to distribute over 50 grams of methamphetamine.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Arnold P. Bernard Jr.
United States Attorney Troy Rivetti acknowledged the efforts of several law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation: "United States Attorney Rivetti commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Laurel Highlands Resident Agency Safe Streets Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police, and Indiana Borough Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Sajko."
