Beaumont man indicted for alleged federal firearms violation

A man from Beaumont, Texas, has been indicted on a federal firearms charge in the Eastern District of Texas. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.

Terrance Von Spain, 46, is accused of being a felon in possession of a firearm according to an indictment issued by a federal grand jury this week. If found guilty, Spain could face up to 15 years in federal prison.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, which is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Justice focused on addressing illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is investigating the case along with the Beaumont Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell James is handling the prosecution.

"A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law," stated officials.
