A Lake County man was sentenced on Mar. 18 to 20 years in prison for sharing images and videos of child sexual abuse on a social media platform, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Ohio.
Todd Oravecz, age 45, from Kirtland, Ohio, received a sentence of 240 months in prison from U.S. District Chief Judge Sara Lioi after pleading guilty in October 2025 to charges including receipt, distribution, and transportation of visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, as well as possession of child pornography or child sexual abuse materials. In addition to his prison term, Oravecz was ordered to serve 15 years of supervised release and pay $39,000 in restitution.
Federal agents began investigating after receiving a tip from The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about suspected activity involving child sexual abuse materials on a social media platform. Investigators traced the online activity to an account in the Cleveland area and identified Oravecz as the suspect. In December 2024, agents executed a search warrant at his home and seized six cellphones, a laptop, a computer tablet, a handgun, and ammunition. Analysis of his electronic devices revealed more than 100 images and videos depicting prepubescent minors under the age of twelve. Court evidence also included a police report from 2021 accusing Oravecz of sexually assaulting a five-year-old minor.
The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations and the Kirtland Police Department with assistance from the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Margaret Kane prosecuted the case.
