Clayton Brown, a 34-year-old from Lake City, Iowa, pled guilty on March 18 in federal court in Sioux City to charges related to methamphetamine distribution and illegal firearm possession.
Brown was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He has seven prior felony convictions that prohibited him from possessing guns.
During the plea hearing, Brown admitted he was involved in a conspiracy that distributed at least four pounds of methamphetamine over approximately eight months in 2025. In October 2025, Brown twice distributed more than 80 grams of pure methamphetamine to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. Authorities searching his home found a Glock handgun, methamphetamine, marijuana, over $2,000 in cash, and other items associated with drug distribution.
Sentencing will be scheduled after the preparation of a presentence report by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Brown remains in custody pending sentencing. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment and could receive up to life imprisonment, along with a possible $10,250,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release following any prison term.
The case is part of Operation Take Back America, described as a nationwide initiative using Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protect communities from violent crime.
