U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested several individuals across the country on Mar. 24 who were convicted of crimes such as sexual abuse of a child, rape, and assault of a family member.

The arrests are part of ICE's ongoing efforts to remove individuals with serious criminal convictions from the United States. The agency reports that nearly 70 percent of illegal aliens arrested have either criminal convictions or pending criminal charges in the U.S.

Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Yesterday, the heroic men and women of ICE arrested multiple child predators, rapists, domestic abusers, and other heinous criminals.” Bis added: “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, criminal illegal aliens are not welcome in the United States. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will arrest you, deport you, and you will never return.”

Among those arrested were Oscar Edgardo Rogel-Gomez from El Salvador for sexual abuse of a child in St. George, Utah; Alcides Ordonez-Cruz from Honduras for third-degree gross sexual imposition and endangering children in Van Wert County, Ohio; Jose Gonzalez-Diaz from El Salvador for rape in Riverhead, New York; and Jose Vazquez-Cardoza from El Salvador for rape in Riverhead, New York.

The agency said these actions reflect its commitment to public safety by removing individuals who have committed serious offenses.
