David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced on Mar. 23 that Danny Turkvan, also known as "Smooth," of Stamford has been charged with distributing crack cocaine after being sentenced in a previous federal case and before reporting to prison.

Turkvan was sentenced on August 13, 2025, in Hartford federal court to 46 months in prison and three years of supervised release for his role in a southwestern Connecticut narcotics trafficking conspiracy. He had been released on a $150,000 bond and was ordered to report to prison by October 16, 2025.

According to court documents and statements made in court, an investigation found that Turkvan continued distributing narcotics after his sentencing. Stamford Police arrested him on state charges on October 11, 2025, seizing crack cocaine intended for distribution.

A federal grand jury indicted Turkvan on March 3, 2026 for possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (crack), which carries a maximum sentence of twenty years imprisonment. The indictment also includes committing the offense while on pre-trial release—a charge that brings a mandatory consecutive term of up to ten years.

Turkvan has remained detained since his arrest. He appeared in Bridgeport federal court yesterday and pleaded not guilty.

The Stamford Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration are conducting the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia Stolfi Collins is prosecuting the case.
