Hamilton County man pleads guilty to methamphetamine distribution charges

Timothy T. Duax U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa

Anthony Neuroth, a 49-year-old resident of Kamrar, Iowa, pled guilty on March 25 in federal court in Sioux City to charges related to methamphetamine distribution.

The case is significant as it involves repeated offenses and highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address drug trafficking in the region.

According to court records, Neuroth was convicted of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of distributing methamphetamine. He had previously been convicted for similar offenses involving conspiracy and aiding others in distributing methamphetamine in September 2007 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa.

During his plea hearing, Neuroth admitted that from November 2022 through February 2024 he conspired with others to distribute more than 150 grams of methamphetamine. Authorities reported that on four occasions during this period, he distributed half-ounce quantities of the drug to an individual cooperating with law enforcement.

Sentencing will be scheduled after a presentence report is prepared by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Neuroth remains in custody pending sentencing and faces a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years’ imprisonment, with a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, an $8 million fine, and at least eight years of supervised release following any prison term.
