Philadelphia man pleads guilty to robberies and attempted robberies of armored trucks

Mujahid Davis, 24, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty on Mar. 27 before United States District Judge Gail A. Weilheimer to multiple charges related to a series of robberies and attempted robberies targeting Brinks armored trucks in the Philadelphia area.

United States Attorney David Metcalf said Davis admitted guilt to two counts of Hobbs Act robbery, two counts of attempted Hobbs Act robbery, and one count of carrying, using, and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to the announcement from Metcalf, Davis was charged by superseding indictment in January along with Dante Shackleford, 26. The crimes included the July 2, 2025 robbery of a Brinks truck in Philadelphia; the July 15, 2025 attempted robbery of another Brinks truck in Philadelphia; the August 12, 2025 robbery in Elkins Park; and an October 3, 2025 attempted robbery in Philadelphia.

Davis is scheduled for sentencing on August 4. He faces a maximum possible sentence of life imprisonment with a mandatory minimum term of seven years' imprisonment. The court may also impose up to five years supervised release and a $1.5 million fine.

The case was investigated by the FBI Philadelphia Violent Crimes Task Force together with the Philadelphia Police Department. Assistant United States Attorneys Robert Eckert and Kwambina Coker are prosecuting.
