Joephrey Raul Murrieta was discovered missing from the satellite camp adjacent to the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Lompoc in Lompoc, California at approximately 10:00 p.m. on March 6.
Murrieta is described as a 35-year-old Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 245 pounds. The United States Marshals Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and other law enforcement agencies were notified following his disappearance. An internal investigation has been initiated.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, Murrieta was sentenced in the Northern District of Texas and Central District of California to an aggregate 255-month sentence for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and assaulting a federal officer resulting in bodily injury. The satellite camp at FCI Lompoc II is a minimum security facility.
