U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on Apr. 1 that it arrested several individuals identified as criminal illegal aliens who were convicted of crimes such as murder, possession of child pornography, assault, racketeering, and weapons trafficking.
The announcement highlights ICE's ongoing efforts to remove individuals convicted of serious offenses from communities across the United States. The agency said nearly 70 percent of its arrests involve illegal aliens charged with or convicted of a crime in the country.
Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said, “Under President Trump and Secretary Mullin, ICE law enforcement will not back down from its mission to keep Americans safe by removing dangerous criminal illegal aliens from our neighborhoods.” Bis added, “Yesterday, ICE arrested criminal illegal alien murderers, child predators, weapons traffickers, and other heinous criminals. If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will find you and arrest you.”
Among those arrested were Celestino Sanchez-Gutierrez from Mexico for murder in Harris County, Texas; Arturo Rodriguez-Salazar from Mexico for four counts of possession of child pornography in Hyattsville, Maryland; Regino Dominguez-Velasquez from Mexico for assault in Queens, New York; Herbert Mauricio Acosta from El Salvador for attempted murder in Los Angeles; and Hector Amaya-Flores from El Salvador for racketeering and unlawful transportation of firearms in Raleigh.
