Chief Michael W. Banks, Chief Patrol Agent of the U.S. Border Patrol Tucson Sector, posted updates on recent border enforcement activities in southern Arizona across three separate tweets dated April 2 and April 3, 2026.
On April 2, Chief Banks reported a narcotics seizure near Green Valley, Arizona. He stated: "INTERCEPTED: DEADLY NARCOTICS Tucson Sector agents seized three backpacks containing 24 packages of methamphetamine—more than 64 pounds—in a remote area near Green Valley, AZ. U.S. Border Patrol Agents remain steadfast in their mission to prevent dangerous narcotics from" (April 2, 2026).
Later that day, he shared details of a rescue operation involving human smuggling: "TRAGEDY AVERTED: AGENTS RESCUE TWO FROM SUFFOCATING HEAT In a harrowing display of the callousness of human smuggling, USBP agents and the National Park Service found two individuals trapped inside the trunk of a car as temperatures soared close to 100 degrees. One individual" (April 2, 2026).
On April 3, Chief Banks provided an update on border infrastructure developments: "Clearing the way. Securing the future. Border wall construction continues to advance, with crews working diligently to install new, modern barriers in key areas. These efforts are part of a comprehensive border security strategy that enhances situational awareness, deters" (April 3, 2026).
The Tucson Sector is one of nine sectors managed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection along the southwest border with Mexico and is known for high levels of cross-border activity involving both drug trafficking and unauthorized migration.
